2.4. Working with the start page

2.4.1. Finding information

The start page displays the following information:

  • If the side panel is visible, the following information is displayed:

    • The Mini calendar displays the current date. The current day is framed.

    • Above the mini calendar the storage usage is displayed.

  • The E-Mail module window displays the most recent unread E-Mail messages. The sender, subject, date and time of receipt are displayed.

  • The Calendar module window displays your current appointments. It displays appointments taking place today, in the following two days, next week or later. For each appointment the date, time, and a description is displayed.

  • The Tasks module window displays upcoming tasks. It displays tasks taking place today, in the following two days, next week or later. For each task the subject, date, and the priority is displayed.

  • The InfoStore module window displays the most recent InfoStore items. It displays InfoStore items from your personal InfoStore, from public InfoStore folders, and from InfoStore folders shared by other users.

2.4.2. Creating new objects

On the start page you can create new objects like contacts, appointments, tasks, InfoStore items or send new E-Mail without having to switch to the respective module.

How to create a new object:

Click on an icon in the New panel tab. A window for entering the data for the new object opens.

2.4.3. Editing items

You can edit items like E-Mails, contacts, appointments, tasks or InfoStore entries on the start page without switching to the respective module. To do so use the respective icons in the start page hover.

The following functions are available:

How to edit an item:
  1. In the overview window, hover the mouse pointer over an item. After a short delay, the hover opens. It displays the General tab.

  2. Click a button in the lower part of the hover. Depending on the button you clicked, the respective window opens.

  3. Continue by making the required changes or clicking the respective buttons.

2.4.4. Opening modules

Usually you will open the respective module when working with the groupware. There are some alternative ways to do so.

To open a module do one of the following actions:

Click on an icon in the title bar .

Click a folder in the folder tree.

In the overview window click the title of a module window.

To open the Calendar module click a day or calendar week in the MiniCalendar.

How to switch back to the start page:

Click the Start page in the title bar icon.

2.4.5. Configuring the overview windows

You have the following possibilities for configuring the start page's overview window:

  • You can change the display of the module windows.

  • You can open or close individual module windows.

  • You can configure the UWA modules' view.

How to change the display of the module windows:
  1. Click on Change Layout below the panel. A layout bar with layout icons and checkboxes is displayed. The layout icon of the current layout is highlighted.

  2. Click on one of the layout icons for changing the module windows' layout.

  3. You can move single module windows by clicking on a module window's title and dragging the window to another position. Note: You can only move a module window within the columns set by the layout selected.

  4. Click on Close configuration below the panel to hide the layout bar.

How to open individual module windows:
  1. Click on Change Layout below the panel.

  2. Activate the checkbox of the module window to be displayed.

  3. Click on Close configuration below the panel to hide the layout bar.

How to close individual module windows:

On the right side of the module window's title bar, click the Close icon

Tip:If the layout bar is displayed, you can also close a module window by deactivating the window's checkbox.

Note: Some module windows might not be closed.

How to configure the display of the UWA modules:
  1. Click on Change Layout below the panel.

  2. Click the UWA Widgets button. The configuration for the UWA modules is displayed. Instructions on how to configure UWA modules can be found in 8.2.4.2: UWA modules.

All changes are saved by default upon leaving the groupware. Information about further modifications can be found in 8.2.4: Configuring the start page.

2.4.6. How to best use the screen interface?

To optimize the display for the groupware objects, check whether one or several of the following possibilities are suitable for you:

  • Depending on the hardware, use the highest possible screen resolution. The minimum resolution is 1024*768.

  • Possibly hide additional toolbars in your browser.

  • If need be, use a smaller browser font. Remember to check the legibility after doing this.

  • If need be, collapse the panel.

  • If need be, hide the side bar.

  • Optimize the start page divisions by using the screen separators.
